Teething Troubles

Yesterday we discovered two little white bumps under Grayson Boy's gums.

My baby boy is getting his first tooth (or teeth- it looks like it may be two bottom ones coming in at the same time).  Kind of explains why hes been a droolin fool and chewing on his fingers like crazy.

We've been doing the orajel route and offering him teether after teether but so far we haven't found one that he really likes.  We have Sophie, and hes just not too into her. We've also tried one that vibrates, but its so big he really cant get his little mouth around it.

Luckily, hes still super pleasant most of the time.  When he gets really cranky that's when we pull out the orajel, but it is affecting his eating/sleeping patterns.  My wonderful boy who has slept through the night since week 5 is now waking up around 3 AM hungry. I'm seriously praying that once these teeth make their appearance he goes back to his habit of being knocked out cold at 8:30 and waking up at 6.

But really, who can be grumpy when this guy wakes you up?

Not me, thats for sure.

So here is my question for all of you Mommas out there- what did you guys use for teething pain?
A favorite teether, a tip, a trick, a prayer; share 'em all cause we can sure use them about now.

  2. A wet washrag. Seriously, worked great for my boys. Although teething didn't affect them that much during the day, but night was a pain. They wanted to nurse more, and my oldest actually would cry in his sleep from the pain. It was heart breaking. It will get better. I'm sure once the teeth pop through, he'll be sleeping normal. And he's such a cutie by the way!

  3. My daughter in law used an amber bead necklace. My grandson has over 10 teeth and is just a year. He has been wearing it since he was a few months old. Seems to work

  5. My kids loved sucking on pickles when they teethed! At night I used the natural teething pills that dissolve in the mouth. Worked wonders.

  6. one thing that has worked wonders for my little one with teething, is you take a washcloth put some applesauce in it tie it up with a rubber band (has worked the best to make sure there is no leaking) and then you put it in the freezer for a couple hours or overnight so it is nice a frozen, then let him chew away! it helps to numb his gums and it gives some good flavor :) at night i usually just do some tylenol right before bed and she does great, if they are almost through she will wake up a couple times in the night but goes right back to sleep. good luck!

  7. I put frozen grapes or peaches in a mesh bag teething ring that you can find at almost any retail store. Or you could e ice if you aren't ready to give him food yet! H.Abbott

  8. We gave our daughter frozen veggies. Succotash to be exact. I would take out the green and lima beans or cut them up. Always watching her, of course. It made her gums feel better and it was good for her. Good luck!

  9. Frozen waffles worked for my son when he was teething. They absorb any drool and then are nice and pliable so he didn't have this hard frozen thing in his mouth. I wish I could take all the credit for this, but it was actually Dan Conner on the TV Show Roseanne that gave me this idea!

  10. He sure can be a heartbreaker! He's so adorable. Haha! I'm sure you'll find the appropriate oragel for him. My nephew just used his favorite teether back then. There's this BPA-free teether that can help calm the baby and ease their pain when kept cold. You can check this site: http://kneesntoes.net/nabpafrchbpt.html

  11. i can recommend these for teething.
our daughter was an absolute nightmare with her teeth until we tried this. she has been wearing it since she was 8 months old and we haven't looked back since. i never take hers off, she sleeps with it on too. i have heard from a few people that take their lo's necklaces off at night and they all say that they still get sleepless nights due to teething. i think that they should be worn 24hrs a day. i feel quite happy that they are not a choking hazard. the necklace has a low breaking strain so if it had to get caught on something(an unlikely occurence) then it would snap. if it were to snap for any reason, each bead has been double knotted on, so that they wouldn't all fall off. i got mine off an Latvian Amber store. it was $15, so not expensive at all.
