Sunday Social

Its been forever since I've linked up with Neely and Ashley for The Sunday Social- but this ones all about the end of summer, so here I am!

Sunday Social

1. What was your favorite trip this summer?
Taking Grayson to the Outer Banks, NC. Growing up it was easily my favorite place on earth and the fact that he now loves the beach too made it perfect!

2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?
My Ann Taylor Loft Skinny Crops- I could wear them as skinny jeans or roll the cuffs to make super cute capris. Win Win!

3. What is one thing you wish you would have gotten to do this summer?
Take Grayson to Sandcastle and have more pool play dates. Oh well, there's always next summer.

4. What was your favorite song of the summer?
I don't know- I didn't really have a song this summer. So Im going to say the moment that N'Sync reunited on the VMA's. Middle School Me was dancing in the living room nearly peeing my pants for those two minutes.

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?
Well in this house we watch a lot of cartoons. I was thrilled to watch Big Bang Theory re-runs and Live with Kelly and Michael.  Seriously though, I could watch BBT all of the time. It cracks me up!

Linking Up with The Sunday Social!

Im back on this wonderful Sunday Funday to link up with Neely and Ashley for the Sunday Social!

1. What is your shopping weakness?
If I'm shopping for myself I love Ann Taylor Loft and New York and Company. Clothes that I can wear to work and get on the sale rack for reasonable prices- score!  Now, its rare that I even shop for myself. Usually if I see a SALE email pop up I'm going to spend my cash on the kid at either Gymboree, Children's Place, Old Navy or Carters.  He is most def the best dressed person in our house these days.  If we're not necessarily talking clothes but just shopping weaknesses I have to say its Target. Please tell me I'm not the only one who goes in for one thing and comes out with a cart full of things?! Its like they hypnotize you when you cruise the dollar spot or something...

2. What is your food weakness?
I'm a sucker for a good crispy french fry and some mac n cheese.

3. What is your go to movie to watch when nothing else is on?
Sweet Home Alabama. Pretty sure I play it in my head when I'm bored and I can't watch TV.

4. What is your go to breakfast food?
During the week, an Eggo and a can of Coca Cola. Don't judge.
On the weekends, Grayson and I usually split cereal or if I'm feeling really motivated Ill make us some pancakes to share.

5. Do you drink coffee, if so how do you take it?
I don't.  That's why I start my day with a can of the red caffeine.  My students can vouch for the fact that every day there is a can on my desk and I tell them frequently that's what keeps me sane.

Sunday Social- all about Food!!

Back again for week 10 of the Sunday Social with Neely from A Complete Waste of Make Up!

Sunday Social

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

Hmmm...thats tough, because I get bored with food easily. Probably chicken fingers and fries or mac n cheese.

What is your guilty pleasure/comfort food?

Cheese Steak Pizza.

What is the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?

I love putting ketchup on my mac n cheese, and grilled cheeses- which people think is weird.  I don't eat crazy foods, but I always have eaten like a pregnant woman.  I will eat some cheese, then Ill want some peanut butter, then Ill need an apple, then some chocolate. One after the other- its kind of strange. Of course when I was preggo I didn't eat like that at all.

What foods do you avoid at all costs?

Lots. Fish, whole tomatoes, watermelon, most veggies, guacamole, mustard...Im a pretty picky eater lol

What meal reminds you of your childhood?

Spaghetti, Ham and Mac and Cheese, Lucci's Pizza on Saturdays

Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.

I love making bacon cheddar bay biscuits- they were one of the first things I thought at a restaurant that I could make myself and make better.  My husband loves them and requests them at least once a week- mainly because he likes to take them for his lunch the next day to eat a turkey sandwich on. They're also amazing with my quick homemade chicken soup- recipe for biscuits and soup here!

Sunday Social- All about Fall!

Here I am again, linking up with the Sunday Social. I had such fun last week popping in on different people and reading the answers to their questions that I decided to do it again!

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite fall activity?

Im going to pretend it says activities- FOOTBALL!!,  pumpkin picking, celebrating the hubs and the Grayson boy's birthday, back to school excitement, seeing the leaves turn colors, warm apple cider, taking Grayson trick or treating and finding him the perfect costume, Homecoming at the school I teach at and seeing the kids get all into it and have fun, celebrating the day I married the hubs- I like fall, a lot.

Our First Anniversary Picture- it was game day.

2. Do you follow a football team? If so, which one and why?

I love Football, and there is no question- I bleed black and gold. I grew up in a family of Steeler fanatics, and married a Steeler fanatic.  We live literally 5 minutes from Heinz Field, and can hear the crowd roar from our back yard on game days. We try to go to at least 1 game a year, and have been on the waiting list for season tickets for 3 years now.  I absolutely love how crazy Steelers fans are for their team, and the following that they have all over.  They are hands down my favorite fall activity.

No lie, he was 12 hours old- but it was game day, and he needed to learn how to represent early. This photo made it onto the local news to announce his entrance into the world.

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?

The leaves turn pretty colors, tons of farms have pumpkin picking and hayrides, haunted houses galore, trick or treating in our neighborhood can yield 300 kids, and Steelers Games.

4. Fav Fall outfit staples?

Big chunky sweaters, jeans, warm hoodies, boots, fleecy sweats and football jerseys.

5. Things you are looking forward to most about this fall season?

Seeing Grayson turn 1 and enjoy his first Halloween where he can get a little into it and celebrating our second wedding anniversary.

6. Favorite Fall Holiday? Traditions?

I like Halloween just a bit better than Thanksgiving, but its close. Going pumpkin picking at the same farm, taking drives to see the leaves, carving pumpkins competitively, decorating for Halloween, Halloween parties at friends houses, writing what we're thankful for on our place mats and re-using them every year so we can see what changes year to year....Im big on traditions and holidays.

I will do this again this year- just need a bigger pumpkin.

Linking Up with The Sunday Social

Happy Sunday Funday, Lovelies!!

Today I decided that I was going to link up with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for her Sunday Social.  Its a great way to get to know other blogger friends, and to answer some really fun and interesting questions!

So here goes nothing!

1. What is your dream job?

The one I have- I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else. I love life inside my classroom, but I also love the fact that I'm home nights, weekends and summers with my little guy.

2. If you just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?

Travel. Everywhere.  I have a loooog list of places I would love to go. Then, this girl would move to a house with a driveway where my neighbors are not 4 feet from my house... #citygirlproblems...then renovate it till my heart was content or the hubs threatened to leave me.  I would also probably think about jumping on the baby #2 band wagon a lot sooner- because I wouldn't have to plan to have him or her in the summer.  And since I don't have to worry about daycare, I might even go crazy and have a third kiddo.

3.  When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

In elementary school I wanted to be a teacher and a mommy, but dropped the mommy idea in middle school once I saw the video on where babies come from.  In high school I said I was going to be a doctor then quickly realized I hated blood and needles- so I switched to pharmacy for college.  Turns out I hated that, and ended up a teacher and a mommy. Ha, go figure.

4. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

Don't ever let them see you sweat- as long as you appear in control and never let them see you shake, you'll be just fine.  Love what you do and never let anyone tell you otherwise, never stop learning and trying new things for your kids.  And sometimes, you just have to stop and laugh.

5. Biggest pet peeves either in life or blogging or at work:

Rude and mean people, people who zoom up behind you and ride on your butt while driving, people who chew with their mouth open, people who copy your blog post word for word and then act like you're crazy for getting mad, entitled people (esp teenagers), and people telling me that I don't work hard or that they could do my job in a heart beat (If you feel this way, please come try...Ill even be nice and point out the challenges for you as I sit in the back and watch you crash and burn.)

6. Biggest Fears:

Something happening to Grayson or the hubs, blood, needles, bugs, snakes, heights, thunderstorms and Im not too thrilled with the dark. Yep- big ole chicken right here.
